Welcoming skill levels that range from ‘I’ve never done a triathlon before’ to ‘I could do a triathlon with my eyes closed’-the triathlon team invites all those who are interested in the sport of triathlon to join.
The Team The triathlon team is a group of like-minded individuals that get together to train and compete in the sport of triathlon. Team members learn discipline and how to work hard to achieve their goals. Workouts range from easy jogs in the park to gut wrenching workouts that will push you to the edge. No matter the difficulty of the workout, there are constantly gatherings to get together and build team unity. The team gets to know each other very well through workouts, gatherings, and team trips. The Meetings Who: Members of TXS Triathlon The Practices With multiple opportunities to practice daily, members of the team can choose practices that suit their schedule. Practices are totally optional but are also extremely beneficial to team members that are trying to get/stay in shape and succeed in the sport of triathlon. Practice opportunities include (but not limited to): swim practices, bike rides, city runs, track practices, yoga classes, spin classes, agility workouts, open water swims, brick workouts, weight lifting, etc. The weekly practice schedule can be found by clicking here. The Events The team competes in multiple events throughout the year that range in distance and difficulty. Here are a few of the designated distances that are popular in triathlon:
While multiple members have completed the Half-Iron and the Full-Iron events, the most common events that are done on the team are the Sprint and Olympic distance events. The biggest race of our season and the event that many members strive to perform at their peak is the Collegiate Nationals Triathlon. This race brings numerous universities together to fight for the national title. |
