The Original Open Water SWT Sprint and the clearest swim in Texas! Great for a first timer or fun for the veterans! The Texas State Sprint Triathlon is the primary fund raiser for The Texas State Triathlon Club. Seidel Productions is the supervising management company of the event along with a team of alumni support coordinators. This race also services as a teaching tool for members of the club to learn how to manage a triathlon event. All safety precautions and professional event courtesy will be implemented.

TRANSITION OPEN: 6:00AM-7:00AM
MANDATORY PRE-RACE MEETING: 7:00AM (In front of transition– near loudspeaker)
START TIME: 7:30AM

Swim: NO SWIMMING BEFORE OR AFTER THE RACE. We will have a time trial start with one person over the start mat approximately every three seconds. The swim takes place in a spring fed lake with a large amount of aquatic life. If you get off course, you may swim through some hydrilla or other plant life. Don’t panic, just keep swimming and you will get through it. Our lifeguards will be there to make sure you are safe and we will cut back the plants as best we can before the race. Approximately 50 meters from the finish, the lake becomes shallow with tall plants, so be extra cautious in this area.

Transition: After you exit the water, you will run about 50 meters to the transition area; an aid station will be here.

The swim-in and run-out will be at the end of the parking lot that is furthest from the park entrance. The bike exit and entrance will be on the entrance side of the parking lot. Remember to have helmet securely fastened before you do anything else!

Bike: The course is a little bumpy in some areas, but smoothes out. We will have police protection at the major intersections, but this is an open course so please be careful of traffic at all times. There are a few rolling hills throughout the course but overall it is nicely graded will decent road conditions. The roads will be swept in problem areas, yet special caution should be taken to avoid any falls. Listen for volunteers warning athletes to slow down.

SLOW DOWN AT TURN AROUND! VERY SHARP U-TURN!

Run: For safety reasons, anyone running on the road and not on the sidewalk or grass will be issued a penalty. The course will be clearly marked where we want you to run.

There is a slightly treacherous hill in the course this year!

It is a different running course than in years past… it will give you a true taste of the hills of San Marcos!

Finish: The after party and awards will be held at the Aquarena Center! We will have water, Gatorade, bagels, fruit, sausage wraps, and other goodies at the finish. Take the time to celebrate your completion of the greatest sprint triathlon in Texas!

NO RACE MEDALS WILL BE MAILED. YOU MUST BE PRESENT AT THE AWARDS PRESENTATION (OR HAVE SOMEONE REPRESENT YOU) TO RECEIVE AN AWARD

Volunteers needed!
